The Room
The room is on the lower level. It is large and measures 11 x 17 with a window facing south. It is carpeted and has a 5 foot wide closet. I can provide a bed and a dresser or you can bring your own. You would share the full bath on that floor with two other housemates.
About the house
The home is a 1914 three story Bungalo. On the main floor the kitchen has three large refrigerators and plenty of cupboards for your food and is big enough for several people preparing and sharing simultaneously. The living room and dining room are connected with carpeting in the living room and a Parque floor in the dining room. They are large with a spacious feel for sharing common areas or having gatherings. All the windows have been updated to double pane vinyl and the heat is forced air newer gas furnace. The lower level has a separate entrance, a nice open common area and a full bath. The upper level also has a shared common area.
The yard
There is a large side yard next to the house and room for BBQ's or a lawn/ garden party. There is no extra storage space available in the garage or basement. There may be room in the common areas for a few things yet if you need more extra space than in your room I have an option to provide a storage room for an additional fee. There are several fruit trees and the lot is extra large at 109 x 66 feet and it is a corner lot. There is plenty of street parking on the front and side of the house as we are on a corner lot.
A good fit
We are seeking a housemate who is comfortable living with other people, can develop a good rapport with housemates and who is fairly independent with a life outside the household. This house is set up well for shared living and there are plenty of common areas so it is easy to have time and space to yourself in your room or a common area. We have a perfect set up for gatherings if you want to have a potluck or dinner party yet this is not a party house. We are all professional (one HH member is retired and another semi-retired) and seek a respectful housemate that is looking for primarily a quiet home. The house layout works so well you usually have the common areas (including the kitchen) to your self or with one other housemate so it doesn't feel crowded in any way. e appreciate someone who routinely cleans up as they go especially in the kitchen. This is a non-smoking home yet a few members do smoke outside.
Who we are:
We are a diverse group of 7 people ranging in age between our 30's and 60's who are mostly independent yet we chose to live with others. Some of us choose to share an occasional meal or shared activity outside the house and we have had many house BBQ's and have celebrated some birthdays together. If you are interested in living in group housing with diverse folks then give us a call.
Transportation/ Location
The home is two blocks north of Willamette Blvd. (bus #44 Mocks Crest) and two blocks south of Lombard (bus # 75). It is about 7 blocks west of Greeley (bus # 33) and 1 mile from the Interstate max or New Seasons. It is 1.3 miles to the University of Portland and 1.8 miles to PCC Cascade. The neighborhood is great. People are friendly and out and about with baby carriages, walking dogs and joggers can be seen early to late each day on Willamette Blvd. This is a good area for bike commuting. There is a neighborhood Pub 3 blocks walk from the house that has a computer set up internet ready for use if you don't have one. There is a nice coffeehouse several blocks away on Greeley South of Ainsworth that also has internet.
