Welcome to my guide for The Sims 3 University Life Expansion Pack! It’s time for your Sims of any age to pack up and get their degree at Sims University; with six majors to choose from and a bunch of new social activities to get stuck into there is a chance to enhance career prospects in the most unsuspecting places!
Sims University
Are your Sims ready for the time of their lives? Heading off to university opens up new opportunities, from social connections to career growth. From class activities to major-specific objects, your Sim will find new ways to learn! And university isn’t just about hitting the books. Join a protest, flirt at a bonfire party—there’s a lot to learn outside of lectures at the student union. With new locations like the bowling alley and SimBurger to explore, and new activities like juice pong and spray painting murals to enjoy, your Sims are sure to have the time of their lives!
Getting into University
When a Sim first moves into their new home or a child becomes a teenager, your household will be visited by the Sims University Mascot. They will drop off the University Welcome Kit which your Sims can use to find out more information about the Majors they can study and to take the Sims University Aptitude Test. The mascot will be a high level Jock so a good friend to make if your Sim is interested in climbing that social ladder.
If your Young Adult or older Sim isn’t interested in scholarship money or extra credit, they can pick up the phone or log onto a computer and select Enroll in University at any time.
While teenage Sims cannot leave High School early to attend University, they can still take the SUAT like Young Adults, Adults, and Elder Sims. Skill levels, traits, and career progress in adulthood will impact the score and each Major is scored individually. The SUAT is out of 2400 and each Major is scored out of 400 with a base score of 100. A score of 250/400 will award 6 credits and 350/400 will award 18. Traits are worth 83 points each, career levels 34 and skill levels 27.
Major | Traits | Skills | Careers |

An overall score of 1200 will grant your Sim $1000 per term in scholarship funds, 1800 is $2500 per term, and 2000 gives them a nice bonus moodlet.
Enrolling in University
By clicking the phone or computer and selecting Enroll in University, your Sim will bring up a menu. You can select the degree they will pursue from the drop down, the number of credits they are going to earn, and how many terms they are enrolling for. To complete their degree they will need 48 credits, so if they have 18 from a high SUAT score and enroll for two terms at the maximum credits they can complete their degree in one journey. When selecting credits, be aware this impacts how many classes your Sim will attend per day. They can attend a maximum of 3 classes on Mondays and Wednesdays, and attend 3 finals on Fridays, so bear this in mind if you want them to have the full University experience! Once their time is up, they will either graduate or come home and be required to enroll for another term to continue their studies. When using this menu, you can select individual degrees and credits for multiple Sims but the duration is for all of them.
